If you have recently undergone a tooth extraction, or if you plan on having an extraction in the future, it is important to plan ahead to ensure your recovery process has the best chance of success in as little time as possible. If you are a smoker, you should give up the bad habit immediately. If you cannot quit, be sure to stop smoking at least 2 full days before and after the procedure.

After the extractions has commenced, get rest and plenty of it. The more rest you give to your body, the faster that your smile will heal quickly and effectively. You should also make sure your home or place of residence is set up to allow you to easy rest. Heavy resting includes physical labor avoidance and the avoidance of exercise or the gym.

Furthermore, avoid eating or drinking anything until the anesthesia has completely worn off, or it could turn into a choking risk. If your dentist prescribed any medications for you to use, take as instructed. As with all dental treatments, follow your dentist’s instructions as intended.
